Cystic Fibrosis

Since 1999, the Sheffield Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit has become a Regionally and CF Trust accredited service for people with cystic fibrosis over the age of 16 who live in Sheffield or as far a field as Grimsby, Mablethorpe, Alfreton, Buxton Lincoln and Wakefield. There is close liaison with the Sheffield Children's Hospital including an adolescent transfer service and we model our care on the Cystic Fibrosis Trust's Standards of Care Document.

We are currently growing at over 10 patients per annum and have now passed 100 and are beginning to work towards the development of a new dedicated out patient facility and in patient beds. Whilst promoting rigorous segregation based on microbiological sputum cultures and aggressive treatment of the complications of Cystic fibrosis we strive for a patient focused, friendly and holistic service.

For further information about cystic fibrosis and it's management you can find extensive information of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust website:

The subspeciality lead for Cystic Fibrosis is Dr Frank Edenborough. Please contact him directly for further information.
